Extensions are software programs that are added to your browser to customize the browsing experience. They enable users to tailor browser functionality and behavior to individual needs or preferences. They are complete safe, secure and are approved by the browser provider (Google, Apple etc).
How do I know if Checkmate is working?
To make sure Checkmate is installed and working on your browser, check for a ‘tick’ icon in the upper right corner of your toolbar if you're using Chrome. If the ‘tick’ is pink, Checkmate is supported on that shopping site. There will also be a pop-up notifying you if discounts are available on that website.
Where Does Checkmate Work?
Checkmate works in all regions worldwide, but currently most of the support is focused towards merchants in the USA. We are currently working on expanding in more detail to other regions.
What internet browser does Checkmate work with?
Currently, the Checkmate extension is only supported on Google Chrome. However, your Checkmate Wallet via the website can be accessed via any browser.
What online stores does Checkmate support?
Checkmate supports 100's of merchants. The full list will be published soon!
Can I use Checkmate on my mobile phone?
Checkmate is only currently available through a Chrome Browser Extension, however, you can view your Checkmate Wallet on your mobile device and copy gift card codes to your mobile checkout experience.
What Payment methods do you accept?
We use Stripe to process payment. Stripe supports credit or debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, American Express, JCB, Discover, Diners Club, Union Pay, Google Pay, Apple Pay.
What happens if I have another savings extension installed?
That is fine! Checkmate will apply additional discounts on the updated checkout amount.
How are you able to offer discounts?
Checkmate partners with merchants and market places who are willing to offer discounts to incentivize people to shop at their store.
How does Checkmate make money?
Checkmate makes commissions from our merchant partners when a member uses Checkmate to checkout by purchasing a discounted gift card. We work with affiliates to help confirm your purchase so we can get a commission from the merchant.
Checkmate also plans to introduce Checkmate points, our free rewards program. This is a win-win for our members and for us and it’s what allows us to provide a free service (and without selling anyone’s data).
What is Checkmate Wallet?
When you create an account you are given a Checkmate Wallet. In this Wallet you can see all coupons that have been emailed to you, all public coupons for sites we support, your previous gift card purchases and your stored existing gift cards you haven't purchased through the Checkmate extension. Your Checkmate Wallet is the safest place to store your gift cards. Storing your gift cards in your Wallet also allows you to be notified when shopping online that you have a gift card for the merchant when on their site ensuring you never forget to use your gift cards!
Where can I see my stored gift cards?
Once you create a Checkmate Account you will automatically receive a Checkmate Wallet where you can store, buy, send, and use gift cards.
Can I add previously purchased gift cards to my Wallet?
Yes! Your Checkmate Wallet allows you to store both physical and digital gift cards. If you have the Checkmate Chrome extension.
What happens if I abandon the checkout once I’ve already purchased a card with Checkmate?
If you use Checkmate and realize you no longer want to buy the goods or services, the gift card processed will be stored in your Checkmate Wallet. The Chrome extension will remind you when shopping at that same merchant you have a gift card available. You can use that card at any later date (or pass it on to a friend as a present)!
What happens if I want to return a good and have used checkmate to checkout?
If you have used a gift card through the Checkmate purchase experience you will be issued a gift card on the return through the merchant’s return policy. Each merchants policy differs so please check the individual merchant’s terms and conditions.
Does Checkmate offer refunds for gift cards purchased?
Checkmate does not currently offer refunds for gift cards purchased. The gift card purchased will be stored in the Checkmate Wallet where you can access it any time.
Do my gift cards ever expire?
No, under California Law (Civil Code 1.4A. GIFT CERTIFICATES [1749.45 - 1749.6]) gift cards have no expiration and can be used any time. If you are in another region your results may vary, please check your local laws.
I haven’t received my gift card yet. What do I do?
Most deliveries occur in seconds, however, in some rare circumstances, it may take up to 10 minutes for your gift card to populate in your Checkmate Wallet. If that does not occur please contact support@joincheckmate.com
